Looking After Your Gold
Once you have chosen your gold wedding rings or other gold jewellery, you will want to make sure it stays in pristine condition. If you follow a few simple guidelines, your gold will look as good in fifty years time as it did on the day you bought it. There are many ways to make sure that gold engagement rings and gold wedding rings retain that brand new look, and the most important is to always keep gold in a box lined with velvet or satin when you are not wearing it.
Many people use pouches to store their gold earrings and other items, but this not really suitable because the pieces will rub together and this will cause minor erosion to your jewellery. If you are storing more than one gold jewellery item in a box, wrap the smaller pieces in tissue paper as this will help prevent scratching.
As well as making sure you have the right kind of storage, correct cleaning will play a crucial role in caring for gold jewellery. You can use a soft brush for the detailed designs, and very soft cleaning cloths for other pieces.
Once in a while, you may want to drop your gold jewellery into boiling water and a pinch of baking soda. Leave it in for only half a minute, and wipe the piece immediately after pulling it from the water. If you follow these simple guidelines, your gold engagement rings, gold wedding rings and all types of gold will look great for you and the people you pass them on to.
