The Symbolism of Diamond Rings
Diamonds are a symbol of steadfast love, making them the ideal stone for engagement rings, wedding bands and eternity rings. This clear stone with fire within represents pure love.
A Diamond Anniversary celebrates 60 years and is an opportunity to give diamonds as gifts. In the lore of gem stones, April is the month of diamonds; if your birthday falls in this month then you will always have diamonds to fall back upon as a gift idea.
Diamond rings extend the symbolism, as a ring is a never-ending circle, without beginning or end; again symbolising true love. If the ring is made of gold this reinforces the meaning, as gold is the purest of metals. Diamond engagement rings are the visible symbol, not only of a promise to marry, but also of a romantic and eternal love.
Wedding rings, again showing the golden circle, are the promise made true, with the exchange of rings applying to the couple. Traditionally, wedding bands are never removed from the finger, once placed there during the marriage ceremony.
Eternity rings are a continuing feature of true love, representing as they do, eternal love. They are traditionally a circle of diamonds, but nowadays it is quite acceptable to have half-circles of diamonds. Whichever you choose, the circle is still there, without beginning or end. Eternity ringsare often given on a first wedding anniversary, or when couples renew their wedding vows. It is really all a matter of personal taste and choice, which we at Marlows are delighted to support.
