It takes a trained eye to judge the quality of a perfect diamond cut, therefore it is important for a diamond to be presented in such a way as to take full advantage ofit’s natural beauty. Simply, a diamond cut is a symmetrical arrangement of facets, or sides which as a whole, change, or modify its shape and appearance.
The cut of the rough stone is evaulated by trained graders and must take into account the original shape of the stone, noting where any internal flaws are and how the cutter will go about preserving the stone’s carat weight.
A cut in diamond terms, does not actually refer to its shape, it refers instead to its proportions which are depth and width. The brilliance of a diamond is controlled by the uniformity of its facets, in other words, depth and width of these facets when cut will determine how light travels through the stone.

What then is the perfect cut?
A perfectly cut diamond is said to be have been ‘ideally’ cut and is not only about which cut to choose, but more importantly, how the facets have been cut and polished. When the facets of the diamond have been ideally cut, light travelling through it will bounce out the top of allowing maximum fire, sparkle and brilliance.
