When A Ring Gets Too Tight

The ring size of an individual can change over time but making tight rings looser does not mean you will damage these beautiful engagement rings or wedding rings.

Engagement rings can grow tighter for so many reasons, when originally they fit perfectly at the time the marriage was proposed. However as the big day approaches you may find that the ring no longer fits as well or, as you celebrate your first anniversary, the fit is not as good. Engagement rings are made to fit snugly in the first instance anyway so even the smallest change in the size of your finger can make the ring far too tight to be worn comfortably.

Here are some reasons why the ring size might change:

In pregnancy, the weight gain can make a big difference. If you have changed your lifestyle in some way, being less lean than before can also be a factor and, finally, ageing can also impact the size of your fingers.

Another big cause is water retention – again this can happen in pregnancy, due to illness or at certain times in a women’s cycle.

If you suffer from blood pressure you may also notice a tightening around the ring and exercise, high body temperature and issues with circulation can also contribute.

Finally a broken finger, one that has been jammed, banged or pinched can swell up and cause problems.
No matter what the reason, the ring will need loosening and there are many ways this can be achieved.

Here at Marlows we have a wide range of diamonds and diamond engagement rings to choose from.
