Making A Long Engagement Announcement
Typically, engagement periods are measured from the presentation of engagement rings to when vows are exchanged and last anything from eight to twelve months. For some, it may seem that a year is a long time to wait, particularly when they are going through a time of change and upheaval or if they were together as a couple for many years before the engagement.
However, for couples planning a very elaborate wedding, a two-year engagement period can fly by. Whether an engagement period is deemed long depends on the couple and their own individual expectations. If you are excited about starting a new life together, it can seem like forever. However, those months between proposal and vows and crucial to plan the perfect wedding. Engagement rings are your commitment to each other as a couple, don’t forget.
If you know at the outset that there will be a long engagement, plan the time you will have. As it is expected that an engagement lasts twelve months at the most, let friends and family know straight away and get any concerns out into the open. This will stop any rumours getting out of hand and avoid you feeling under pressure to act in a certain way.
Use an engagement announcement to inform friends, family, colleagues and other acquaintances with both your social circles that you are having a long engagement from the beginning. You can use an email, newspaper or printed announcement and include an expected wedding date. This will indicate to people how long it’s likely to be.
