Factors to consider when diamond gift buying

Buying a diamond is not a decision normally made quickly. It is usually an important gift and normally saved for a special occasion such as an engagement, anniversary or birthday. Traditionally diamond buyers are normally men buying a gem for their partners but in the modern world it is not uncommon for women to buy men diamonds and a growing trend is for men to include the gems in their wedding band.

When making such a big decision one of the key factors they must consider is the jewellery their loved one already wears and whether they prefer yellow gold or white gold, diamond clusters or single gems and what colour and size of diamond would suit them. Also it is important to listen if they have pointed out any particular styles, which they prefer or like.

A person’s physique is important in choosing the right piece of jewellery for them. Bigger stones suit bigger people better whereas smaller diamonds suit petite women.

With many women now choosing their own engagement rings the choice has been taken out of the hands of the men!

A key factor for both men and women when purchasing diamonds is budget. When the desired item is an engagement ring then the budget will be bigger than when purchasing other items of jewellery. However smaller diamonds can be bought on a smaller budget and still retain a high quality. Also with diamonds now becoming more affordable, women are able to buy them for themselves.
