Cleaning Tips For Diamond Engagement Rings
Follow these tips to keep diamond engagement rings clean:
- Soak the ring in a cleaning solution around two to three minutes.
- Use an old toothbrush or a specialist soft bristled brush to brush away dirt and grime.
- Take the brush and clean the ring at all angles to ensure all dirt is removed. This includes brushing under the setting and ensuring all the dirt is dislodged.
- Use clean water to rinse the ring
- Put the ring into some fresh solution to soak again. Again, rinse the ring thoroughly in clean, clear water. Using a running tap is great to clear away any cleaning residue and any last bits of dirt.
- Next, use a lint free cloth or a jeweller’s polishing cloth to dry the ring carefully. Avoid paper towels and tissues as these have abrasive fibres that will leave dust on your nice, clean ring and can damage any fine gems or precious metals. You can finish off the job by drying the ring quickly using a hair dryer. This will make sure you have no water spots.
To keep engagement rings looking this breathtaking for longer follow these tips:
- Always handle the ring by the edges rather than picking it up by the stone. This will avoid oils and fingerprints getting to the facets of the diamonds.
- Buy a jewellery box to store engagement rings or, alternatively, there are soft cloth bags that are lint free.
At Marlows, we have diamond engagement rings to die for and a reputation for providing exquisite diamonds.
