Weddings are special occasions. After all, they represent the public union of two people who are announcing to all those present their intention to cherish and love each other for the rest of their lives.
And one of the most important symbols of this is the wedding rings they hand over to one another. From that day forward, they will wear these items to represent their connection.
Indeed, in many ways the giving of the rings is the central part of the whole ceremony, along with the signing of the registry.
If you are choosing such rings ahead of you and your partner’s big day, it is therefore crucial that you put a lot of thought into your selection. The last thing you want to happen is to realise when it is too late that you do not like the items of jewellery.
For this reason, you ought to think carefully about whether you would prefer gold wedding rings, diamond rings or any other type of item. It often helps if both the rings complement each other, but they should also look good with other items of jewellery you own.
Meanwhile, you should bear in mind the shape of your hand when deciding which product to go for as certain designs flatter some shapes more than others.
If you are stuck concerning what to opt for, you can get plenty of tips online, or you might want to take advice from friends or family members.

If you are tying the knot with your partner, you are bound to be swamped by organisational demands. And it is not just planning that is likely to be taking its toll. Your finances will also be coming under considerable strain.
After all, having the perfect big day is not cheap and there are many costs associated with getting hitched.
You will need to shell out for a venue, catering, transport, outfits, flowers and many other things. Also, you might be planning a honeymoon and these do not tend to come cheap either.
So, by the time you get around to choosing your wedding band rings you might be seeking to cut corners.
However, while there are certainly savings to be made if you are shrewd when planning your nuptials, you should avoid the temptation to skimp on such items.
You will hopefully be wearing them for the rest of your lives and so you should make sure they look the part. Indeed, apart from your relationship with your other half, the rings are the only permanent aspect of the celebrations.
So, whether you choose to get bands with diamonds in or ones in other styles, you should not get anything you are not totally happy with.
These days, there is a plethora of such items to choose between, including gold wedding rings and versions made from other metals.
As well as stumping up sufficient cash for rings, you should also make sure you spend enough time browsing your options. This way you are bound to get items you are happy with.

Technically speaking, white gold is not the pure gold metal. It is an alloy of normal yellow gold (if such a rich and beautiful thing could ever be described as merely ‘normal’) with another metal. Possibilities include palladium, nickel, and platinum and manganese. At first thought, this may seem less romantic than pure elemental gold but there are plenty of reasons for choosing white gold engagement rings or other white gold pieces.
First of all there is colour. White gold diamond rings have an attractive snowy colour scheme all of their own, and the colour of the metal beautifully compliments a pure white uncoloured diamond. It also suits multi gemstone rings well, especially when coloured stones are used in the design. For example, yellow gold looks beautiful with deep red gems but for pink ones a paler metal is far more pleasing to the eye.
Pure gold is also very soft. That means it is vulnerable to scratches, scrapes, and becoming worn and damaged over time. This is a particular concern for gold wedding rings which are intended to be worn all day every day for decades to come. Those who lead an active lifestyle or work with their hands may be better served by a stronger, more durable white gold ring than a softer yellow gold one.
White gold is not a second choice to yellow gold- far from it. It’s a beautiful and extremely precious metal in it’s own right. In fact, white gold is often chosen to host the very best gemstones and create the most desirable pieces.

Most diamond engagement rings are bought without the knowledge of the lady in question. They are considered an essential part of the proposal – it’s much more exciting to ask for a woman’s hand in marriage if you have a stunning ring to present as you ask – and there is no doubt that having an appropriate one will increase the chance of receiving a positive answer.
While the lady will no doubt be delighted to receive such a beautiful thing and it would be wonderful if it fitted perfectly as soon as she tried it on, it’s often difficult to ensure that and most women will naturally understand that the ring may need to be resized before they can wear it and show it off to their friends and family.
She will of course try it on straight away. It’s here that a slight problem can arise. Engagement rings that are just a touch too small can get stuck on the finger. This can be a little embarrassing and painful too, and the last thing you want is this special day being spoiled. Don’t panic, the problem is usually very easily fixed.
Don’t try to oil the finger with butter or anything like that. This probably won’t work and will certainly get the most beautiful of gold wedding rings oily and messy. Instead, get the lady to run a cold water tap over the ring (after putting the plug in the sink of course!). This will cool the hand and reduce the size of the finger ever so slightly. In most cases the ring will come off after a minute or so and no harm will be done.

When you are selecting diamond rings and other such products, there are many issues to bear in mind.
One of the most important of these is the carat of the object. Referring to its weight, this impacts substantially on the size of the stone and also on the price.
However, it is not only size that matters when you are seeking your perfect diamond wedding rings, diamond earrings and other such objects.
There are many other things that you need to take into account.
For example, what sort of metal would you like the stone to be set in? You can choose between options including gold and white gold. The type you go for will have a significant impact on the overall appearance of your piece of jewellery.
Meanwhile, you can also choose the colour of your diamond as such items range from clear to a brownish shade.
And of course, the shape of the stone is critical. This can completely alter the look and feel of an item.
You can go for the traditional styles if you are after this kind of look, or you can prioritise more modern shapes.
You should take your time when considering the cut of the item as some diamonds are more shiny than others due to the way they have been shaped.
Of course the type of product you end up with will be determined by your individual preferences.
So you can see that while the size of the stone is one factor when it comes to the appearance of jewellery, it is by no means the only important issue.

One of the reasons for buying and wearing items like diamond rings is to get attention from other people.
The objects tend to get noticed because of their beauty and because they sparkle in a way other pieces of jewellery do not.
So, when you are selecting your diamond wedding rings or custom engagement rings, you should ensure that you do not end up with a product that is dull. This would defeat the whole point of making the purchase.
How sparkly your diamond is determined by its cut. This refers to the shape and style of the item.
As such, it includes the proportions of the stone, as well as its symmetry and the quality of the finish used.
And it is not only the brilliance of the gems that is influenced by this craftsmanship, but also the colours that gleam out of it.
Known as the fire, the rainbow of different colours that can be seen when a diamond is in the light is affected by how the object has been shaped.
When such a stone has been cut in a symmetrical way and is in the right proportions, it acts like a prism and bounces light around its internal structure before the rays return through the top.
You need to ensure that you are happy with the item you choose in relation to this feature.
It is possible in some cases that the proportions of the gem are out of balance and, when this occurs, less light is reflected back.
By studying the gem you want carefully before you buy it, you can ensure you are not disappointed.

Part of the pleasure in choosing diamond wedding rings is to wonder about the history of these diamonds and their creation. The following is a compilation of facts associated with diamonds and their trade.
White diamonds are the purest diamonds on the market, untainted by colour caused by elements such as boron or nitrogen combining with carbon during formation.
Engagement rings have been a part of betrothal rituals in the West since the late Fifteenth Century, when the Archduke Maximilian of Austria gave a diamond ring to the young heiress Mary of Burgundy.
Diamond Wedding is the 60th Wedding Anniversary, traditionally associated with the giving of diamonds.
Dresden Green Diamond is a very rare natural diamond; exposure to natural radioactivity accounts for its colour. It is currently on display in Dresden.
Incomparable is the name of the largest, flawless brown diamond ever found in Africa in 1984.
Noor-Ol-Ain translates as ‘Light of the Eye’ and is a beautiful pink diamond, originally from India, and now part of the Iranian Crown Jewels; it is the centrepiece of the former Empress of Iran’s wedding tiara.
Golconda Mines, in Southern India, were the original source of diamonds before the diamond fields of Brazil and South Africa were discovered. Many famous diamonds, especially white diamonds, are said to have been discovered here and this enhances their mystery. Diamonds are no longer mined in this area.
We, at Marlows can supply all the diamonds and diamond rings to suite every stage of your relationship; diamond engagement rings, wedding bands and diamond eternity rings.

There is a natural, expected progression from engagement to marriage but there is so much to prepare for the special day that you can often lose sight of the reason for the occasion. In the hurly-burly that follows you have to arrange the ceremony, reception, clothes, flowers, transport and one hundred and one other details. Traditionally, the bride and her mother make the arrangements and her parents pay for everything. Nowadays, it is increasingly common for the arrangements and costs to be shared between the bride, the groom and their families.
Whichever way you choose, make sure you enjoy the arrangements as much as the wedding itself. This is not always an easy thing to achieve especially when others’ wishes may need to be taken into account.
Something you can always enjoy and choose for yourself is the rings – the diamond engagement rings and the subsequent wedding band rings. Long after the last piece of wedding cake has been eaten and the last glass of champagne drunk, you will have the perfect reminder in the form of the wedding rings you have chosen. Over the years you will only have yourselves to please in the selection of diamond eternity rings and other pieces of jewellery which express your love.
You will be wearing these diamond rings for a lifetime so it is important to spend time choosing the exact ones you like. At Marlows we have a wide range of gold engagement rings and wedding bands to cater for all tastes and to please all parties.
