There are a number of ways in which you can purchase diamonds. These days, you can head to your local high street to pick up such items or you can use the services of more specialist retailers that may be situated further afield.
However, thanks to developments in modern technology, it is now possible to source these goods online from firms like us here at Marlows.
There are many benefits of adopting this approach. Firstly, you can avoid the horrible winter weather that has been affecting much of the UK over recent months. On occasion, various places around the country have virtually ground to a halt due to snow and ice.
And shopping in conditions such as this is never pleasant. Indeed, in some cases it can be dangerous. The slippery ground can be treacherous while you are manoeuvring about on foot and driving conditions are also difficult.
Another reason why it can pay to source your diamond earrings, loose cut diamonds and other such items over the web is that you can save cash. Retailers such as us here at Marlows are able to provide you with fantastic value.
So, rather than getting yourself into tricky situations and paying more than you have to for your jewellery, use your head and source it the smart way.
To get your hands on jewellery via cyberspace, all you have to do is peruse your options at a time that suits you, make a selection, enter some details and then wait for the object to arrive. Nothing could be simpler.

This winter has been a particularly harsh one for many parts of the UK. Snow and ice began causing problems for certain areas as early as November and since then there have been record breaking low temperatures and many further incidents of weather disruption.
Indeed, so serious were some of the episodes that businesses and schools had to close temporarily and transport hubs ground to a halt. Heathrow Airport was among those worst affected at one point.
And winter is hard enough anyway without all these extra problems. The long nights, chilly days and lack of sunshine may have caused your spirits to flag.
Also, the festivities of Christmas time and New Year are now well and truly over and sprung has by no means sprung. Indeed, there could be many more weeks of harsh conditions before the warmer weather returns.
However, there are ways of cheering yourself up. One of these is to invest in diamonds. These sparkly treats can help boost your mood and help you through the last phase of winter.
Whether you opt to get diamond earrings, loose cut diamonds or anything else, you will be sure to feel the value of such retail therapy.
And the best thing is you don’t even have to venture out in order to make the most of such opportunities. You can source such gems over the web through firms such as us here at Marlows.
To find out if we have anything that takes your fancy, simply have a look around our website.

It is a common misconception that all diamonds are clear. This may be because from a distance, such stones generally do seem to be colourless.
However, in actual fact, the gems used to make diamond engagement rings, pendant earrings, diamond wedding rings and other such items range in colour.
Indeed, completely clear diamonds are relatively rare.
In reality, most such items that are classified as being within the normal colour range have hints of yellow and brown in them.
There are also pink, red, green, blue and even black diamonds available to be purchased.
Because of their rarity, some of these objects come with a hefty price tag.
The colour of diamonds can be observed more clearly when the objects are not embedded in metal.
However, when it comes to stones in the normal range, it can be very difficult for the untrained eye to spot the difference.
Generally speaking, if all other factors are the same, a clearer diamond will be worth more than one that is coloured.
How much attention you choose to pay to such issues is entirely up to you.
You may think it is pointless splashing out on a clear stone when there are cheaper ones available that are slightly coloured.
After all, if you cannot tell the difference without expert help, it is hardly going to reduce the pleasure and attention you receive as a result of wearing the item.
Of course, if you are a perfectionist you may think it is worth spending the additional cash.

The diamond industry has a pretty negative reputation, partly due to the certain practises that relate to the industry, such as mining for blood diamonds, but also due to a public misconception, bolstered by the media and certain Hollywood blockbusters.
In reality, just like any industry there is a good and bad in the diamond mining; however, the good that the industry exerts is not only tangible but it is directly measurable.
For example, as Africa is the most prolific source of diamonds, the diamond industry is absolutely fundamental to the economy of many African nations. For some African countries, such as Botswana, not only does diamond mining form a crucial part of the economy, but it is also instrumental in its ethical advancement. The revenue from the diamond mining industry is directly responsible for every child in Botswana being able to receive free education up until the age of 13.
Revenue from diamonds has also been instrumental in the fight against Africa’s most notorious pandemic – the HIV/AIDS virus, and has given African nations essential funds that can be used to provide everything from counselling to testing, education and treatment programs.
It is perhaps ironic that 65% of the worlds most precious stones should have their origins in the world’s poorest and most underdeveloped continent; however, rather than being a cause for alarm this is perhaps an opportunity, and diamonds can be fundamental to Africa’s future ethical and economic development. So, next time you slip on those diamond wedding rings or eternity rings, remember that your ethical jewellery will have helped to support African citizens.

All diamonds are special and will convey an inherent sense of high glamour; however, it is the nature of precious stones that some examples can be considered more “perfect” than others. With this in mind, what features of a diamond should you look for before making that big investment?
Carat
The measurement carat is most familiarly associated with gold jewellery, such as gold eternity rings. However, it is also applicable to diamonds, and the higher the carat of a diamond the larger the size or weight of the stone. Of course, a big diamond will not always be appropriate; therefore for more demure diamond rings, you’ll be just as satisfied by a smaller lower carat diamond.
Clarity
The clarity of the stone is perhaps more important than the carat, because no matter what the size of your diamonds you’re probably going to want them to be as clear as possible. Of course, the more inherent clarity in the diamond, the more expensive it is likely to be.
Cut
A well cut diamond will also have that little extra sparkle of magic, as diamonds cut in a certain way will catch the light in its infinite facets more effectively. Considering that there is nothing quite like the light catching in a diamond, it may be worth investing that little bit extra in a diamond that has been cut to an expert standard.
Colour
The perfect diamonds are perhaps white diamonds; however in reality the colour of diamonds ranges from white to yellow – with white diamonds demanding a considerable premium over darker colours.
Here at Marlows we have a wide range of wedding, engagement and eternity rings from our online store.

Because they are such a precious item, diamonds remain somewhat mysterious to a lot of people and many are not aware they come in such a variety of shapes.
Whether it be for eternity rings, earrings or any other type of jewellery, these stones come in a plethora of designs, meaning consumers can choose ones perfectly suited to their particular requirements.
One shape is the round brilliant and this one of the most popular among consumers. It is designed to provide the best shine and light return – ensuring it achieves the maximum gleam.
Meanwhile, those keen to go for a more unusual shape may wish to opt for a diamond in the emerald style, which, although not as popular as it was at its height, is still an elegant look to have.
Other versions of diamond include the oval – which is often used in three-stone anniversary rings with matching stones on the sides – and the princess. This is a square cut that possesses refractive properties, making it almost as shiny as the round brilliant.
A different cut called the radiant has more facets than a princess but has its corners trimmed like the emerald shape.
So, when it comes to selecting stones for a special piece of jewellery there are many options to choose from and time should be spent exploring the possibilities. After all, it is important to go for something you will feel comfortable wearing and that suits your style and the circumstances in which you will wear it.
